If we're talking about the Cobra then I take back what I said about the 350. Rick's right. It should have a Ford engine. It doesn't look like we have the same idea of a tight budget. I thought you were trying to fix up an old Chevy. Putting a 305 in that car makes no sense at all.

I just got back from vacation so I thought I'd reply to some of the comments made about my cobra.
The cobra is one of a few cobras manufactured that are based around a Chevy small block, so dropping a ford big block is not an option. So unfortunately I did not have a choice about the engine since I bought the car used. That would also explain the paint job. I'm actually a traditionalist, so my first choice would have been to build my own blue and white 427 Ford Big-Block. Unfortunately my current situation does not allow the time commitment to do this. So I thought this cobra would be a good compromise since the car was priced right.
The builder was a former hot rod customizer from Ontario who built this car for his own personal use. The attention to detail is very high and it has won a number of best in class trophies at hot rod shows.
Although the style would not have been my first choice, it actually kind of grows on you after a while.
Anyway, I appreciate the feedback that I've gotten, and although I plan on sell the car in a couple of years, I will use some of the advice given and I also plan on chroming the headers and pipes.
Money I not a huge issue, but changing the block is not an option and I don't plan on keeping the car forever so I want to ensure that the car gets the proper mods that it need without getting too crazy.
Anyway, I welcome any additional comments and thanks for the support.

friend has one, lunati hydralic cam, cheap and good, 460 lift but he has 1.6 rockers. dual plane, carb is fine, good stall, good gears, msd module in distributor helped him too, he runs low 14s all day with a chevelle with 3 08 gears.
I currently have a 307 v8 for my nova ss but it needs some work. I would like to have an engine in my car within a few months. i was wondering if anyone has or knows of an engine that would bolt into a 75 nova ss. i was hoping for a 307 to 400 ci. plz e-mail with any answers. Sinc ewe ar eon the subject of 307's I have 79 elky with a 305, have the chance to get 72 307 rebuilt and no miles, are the blocks different, want to use wate rpump, fuel pum and manifolds, and distrubutor

GTP, it seams like you're just want'n a quick fix to some additional HP. You considered "the juice" yet? If you really don't care about the motor (after all, it is only a 305) then give it the kick it needs when you want it. There are a bunch of used nitrous kits you could pick up reasonably cheap. Maybe the only CHEAP, GOOD, and FAST option I've ever heard of. Drop a 100 HP kit on and you'll notice a difference really quick. Just don't breath the stuff or...:whacked:
