Yes!!!!!!!!! It was the metal. It looked straight because it was it was, it was just "off" about 1/8 on an inch and was being hit. I used the high tech tool know as, the long screw driver and fixed it in about one minute. I can't believe the noise that was coming from that little bit of rubbing. It sounded so expensive. I want to thank everyone for there help. Not kiddin. If I wouldn't have got online with you guys, I would have taken her in. I have know one to ask, so thank you again!
uroyu, you are not reading my post. i said if the clutch was adj. properly it wouldnt be turning in nuetral. if i had of worked on the throwout bearing it wouldnt be turning in neutral or going down the road either unless i had my foot on the pedal.Quote:

pmjan, congrats man. I should have asked if the noise changed with rpm's to begin with, that's a standard question, my fault. That would have led us in a completely different direction, which it appears you have already taken. I'm glad it was something easy, always nice.
lt1s10, look man, it's all good. I'm really not tryin' to start a fuss. I enjoy reading your post and have read some very informative info from you. I have read your post a number of times and I understand what you are trying to say. All I am trying to say is that there is a difference in theory and real world diagnosis. When your manual tranny is in nuetral it has nothing to do with the throwout bearing or the clutch for that matter that the car does not move. The tranny is not in gear. With the clutch engaged, even in nuetral, the clutch is engaged, period. Yes, the throwout bearing should not be moving with the pedal up, or the clutch engaged, it should only be noisy when you engage the pedal, or disengage the clutch. This being said, a bad bearing will get worse and worse until they squall most of the time or until you replace it.Quote:

I really am not trying to be a butthole and hope you don't think of me as one. If it wasn't for you I would still think TH400's used vacuum for kickdown, or detent, whichever you prefer. I understand where you were going with the clutch and throwout, but I have heard throwout bearings that made noise constantly. Generally with folks who have little to no experience with vehicles and will let them go until they die completely, but constant noise none the less. Nerver heard one change noise with rpm's though, but I guess anything is possible.
Again, I hope I haven't over stepped my bounds here, and I truly mean no disrespect, but I am no rookie to cars. I do hope you are feeling better and it is great to see you back on the board.

derek we are saying the same thing I think, all I'm saying is if the throw out bearing is adj. properly it want be turning unless your foot was on the pedal, because when you adj. it properly it wont be touching anything to make it turn. foot on the pedal throw out bearing turns, foot off of pedal throw out bearing don't turn. if it was adj properly and froze up you wouldn't know it until you put you foot on the pedal because it wouldn't be touching anything to make it turn so it couldn't make a noise. if the bearing is turning without foot on pedal then its out of adj. has nothing to do with which gear you are in, but if you are mashing the clutch padel or not. if thats what you said then we agree. :HMMM: :LOL:

I gotta agree, this is a great board full of great people. And yes, That is basically what I was gettin' at there lt1s10.
I frequent a number of boards, this one included and it is very laid back, comparitively. Some of the others aren't too bad, but most would just as soon rip yer head off. Needless to say, I'm not on there very often or for very long. But this one is a tad different and most folks here are great. I have learned some great things and hope I have helped on occasion too, but enough of the mushy crap now, all nascar drivers suck, buncha hillbillies drivin' in a darn circle. Drag racin' is where it's at. I guess I watch a little F1 also, but I think GP bike racing is my favorite. Watchin' one of those guys comin' out of a corner on one tire, OH MY LAWD. That's gotta be a rush.
i like all racing, nascar, drag racing, F1, IRL, horse racing, bike racing, just about anything but marathons. i love grand prix
