Finding/rebuilding 327s hard to do?
OK so I know the actual rebuild part isn't any harder than any other SBC...but is finding a rebuildable 327 hard to do?
I really like the 327, and want to build one for my '68 C10. What cars/trucks should I look for at the heap-yard?
Or, should I just get an engine kit from Performance Automotive Warehouse?

why not build a 350 block with 327 crank pretty much be the same thing had 1 setup in 78 z28 did 11.10 1/4 mile pretty strong intop end hp short throw on crank keeps revs upIF IT AINT BROKE TRY TO FIX IT ANYWAY

now don't take this as a sarcastic jackass remark, but why would you want to build a 327 instead of a 350? if anything, go bigger! 383, 400, 415, 430, you can even build a 470 small block!

I don't want one of those. I want a 327, that's why. I'm looking for a good engine that I can drop into my '68 C10 that I use as a daily driver all year long.
Heck...if I could get a 283, I would. But I do like the 327 a bit better.Drog

This will sound silly but a real wolf in sheeps clothing is the chevy 307! yes yes yes they are weak stock but..... They are basicly a 283 with a 327 crank they rev very fast because of the short stroke and come with flat top pistons but!! the heads and cam are were all the performance is lost! they have the smallest valves i've ever seen in a SBC head and massive combustion chambers. I bought a 307 for $50 a few years ago and put it in my 66 chevy shortbed and it wouldn't get out of its own way. Swapped out the heads for 882 305 heads with the smaller combustion chambers and big valves stuck an edelbrock performer intake on it a performer cam and a carter AFB on top. It would SCREAM! the 350 that had the same intake/cam/carb setup before would not even touch the power that the 307 had it would rev fast and rev high and held together very well. It didnt have the low-end tourque of the 350 but man it would get up and go.70' Buick Skylark Drag Car Project

Find a later block 283 punch out the bores to 4 inches and get a 3.25 stroke crank. Bone yards are full of them down here. Friend has the the crank [forged small journal], rods, and pistons out of his 66 Impala. [dummy only had water in it when it froze a couple of winters ago, you guessed it cracked the block] He went with a 350. Has no use for the bottom end now.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
