vortec rocker arms
i have a set of 906 vortec heads and am installing a larger cam and springs ect. can you use stard roller rockers or do you HAVE to use the self aligning roller rockers? if you know anything i would greatly appreciate it

My understanding is that you can but you have to run pushrod guide plates. You may also need to open up the push rod holes in the head.An Old California Rodder

The Scorpions I bought were only $10 more than the non self-aligning. Made for an easier install due to the valve stem height.
If you're changing valves and retainers it may be just as easy to do guide plates.http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/647081

thanks for the info, i am intalling screw in studs with guideplates so i should be fien with stard roller rockers right?? i do plan on drilling out the pushrod holes in the head to 1/2 inch for clearance.

I can't see a problem with it. I always use a valvetrain geometry checking tool though. A $20 tool no toolbox should be without.http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/647081
