Cam Button, Hydraulic (non-roller)
New user. Quick question:
Putting together a SBC 400 (stock crank/rods/pistons, 461 heads, Comp 280 hyd cam). I asked a local engine builder; he told me that running a cam button wouldn't be a bad idea. Reputable guy, has done great work for many folks.
Everything I find on cam buttons applies to rollers, though. Not sure how to go here.
Should I run a nylon button with a stock timing cover, or should I get a little more fancy with the parts? Don't want to get too fancy (i.e., $$$) if a simple fix would be adequte. We'll be turning in the ballpark of 4000 to 6500; circle track. Thanks.

I don't see why it would heart anything! JMO

you can run the nylon or get the aluminum and file it to fit the cover.....they make a long and a short to match a recessed cover or the bubbled cover.....I cut it larger than measure and just let the cover dimple when tightened

It would be nice if this up and down crap would cease.
