you'll need the vac. line like denny said but you will also have to hook up a passing gear cable to the the carb. also. you didnt say what kind of trans you was taking out but i would guess a powglide. you can buy the bracket fron most any hi-prof. store.:cool:Quote:

ok but i sure its not the gear cable, my auto shop teacher didn't even know wut it was, it slides into the trany like a vacuum line but again it was cut, i don't know, lol
Classic_4_LIFE when you talk about a car , to a parts man or who ever you go by, if you are sitting in the drivers seat driving the car. the drivers side is the left side and the passanger side is the right side, always. remember that and that will save you a lot of trouble in the future.
ok so i have to get another one? if yea, where can i find one?
belive me Classic_4_LIFE on a th350 trans you have the shift linkage on the left side and dip stick and passing cable togother on the right front of the trans and the modulator, a can looking thing at the back of the trans. if your dhop teacher dont know that he shouldnt be teaching auto. repair. :confused:Quote:

i wouldnt you can, but want have a passing gear. you would burn the trans up.
go to a parts store later on and tell them what kind of trans you have and tell them you need a kick down cable.Quote:

you still have to have a bracket to hook it in at the carb. naps may have them or jigs.
No, i can find the kick0down cable, i meant the shift linkage, that ones more important cause i wudn't be able to drive at all, Though i must u have been a great help, THANK YOU for all that you have done
the shift linkage that was on the powerglide should work.Quote:

may not line up 100% but you can drive it that way with no problem.
but the power glide was a 2 speed and the 350 turbo is a 3 speed, will it still work?, and if so i can just rip off the old one and put it in the new one with no other attackments?
use the linkage youve got, the detent is in the teans. if you want yor can get a different dial that shows all 3 gears, but its only for looks. :cool:Quote:

you may have to adj. your linkage a little.
ok, i don't know what to do for that, Can u run me through it like a step by step on what to do cause i'm at a lose
its been a long time sense i hooked up a powerglide trans linkage to a 350, but the best i can remember it hooked up with no problem, may have to adj. it a little at the shift column. put the gear shift in park and put the trans in park and take the linkage and hoot it to the trans. :cool:Quote:

It1s10 ain't pullin' youe leg kid. That's a kick down cable, or detent cable if you prefer. It does look a lot like a vacuum line on the TH350. It probably bolts down into a mount on the outside right hand side of the tranny. You don't have to have the pan off to replace it, but it does make it easier. It will run up over the top of the tranny and mount on the drivers side of the carb along with the carb linkage. You need to have the right carb and mount to hook it all up properly. The mount bolts to the rear base plate of the carb (most of the time) and the cable hooks to a hole on the throttle linkage on the carb itself. You will also need the vacuum line mentioned above to go to the modulator on the rear passenger side of the carb. Mine is a quadrajet, but the hook up works the same on the 2brl. I'll try to get pics to show you how it works tomorrow and post them here then. I'd have to agree with the teacher bein' a dip too. This is a very basic part of the tranny that any decent car guy should know. You can buy that cable at most parts stores. They make a few, so get your mounts and decide what size it should be. Most of the differences are early or late and then length. Hit up a pick-a-part and just look at some GM's. Most of these will be TH350's and you can see how it hooks to the carb. Good luck.
