problems with my distributor
Hello, I'm mechanically inclined, but don't have a vast knowledge of auto repairs. I own a 68 Camaro with a 350. I haven't driven it for awhile and needed to remove one of the heads and in the process I removed the distributor. I marked the position on both the distributor and intake manifold before removing.
Here's the problem! While I had it removed, my wife thought she was doing me a favour and cleaned up the distributor. In the process she removed the line that I had marked on it.
If someone could give me some advice on how to find the correct position for the distributor in "moron" terms, I would greatly appreciate it.
I can find when cylinder 1 is at its highest point and I can also see the intake and exhaust valves open. I also know how to set up the distributor so that cylinder 1 fires. I don't know where it should fire in relation to the other actions (e.g. 5 degrees after the intake valve closes)
Warm weather is coming and I'm drooling to be cruising again. Thank you.

It would be nice if this up and down crap would cease.
