looking for lowering fuel preasure

i have a 3/4 ton chevy with a 305 the trany was dead and the computer and electronics messed up instead of redoing all of this stock i swamed the trany out for a 400 turbo, i swaped the fuel injection out for a gm performer 4 barrel intake holley 650 gm shorty headers, msd ignition... and so on but now the 40 pounds of fuel preasure is too much for my carb. i was told to use a dodge inline filture with a return on it before the carb...

will this fix the problem or will i need a fuel regulator too? anyone have any better sugestions other than changing the pump?

you will need a fuel regulator to. i think you need to do away with the 40 lb. fuel pump because you need to cut it down to about 5 lbs. and i dont know if you can do that with that pump. :whacked:

No.....what you need is a "Bypass" regulator... these are about $80.00 you may be able to find a cheaper one....Jeg's part # 793-30-900 3/8 fitting $71.99.....

Heres how you use it....Run the pressure fuel line directly to the carb with a tee right at the carb inlet... hook the fuel line to the tee and the carb inlet to the tee and hook a hose to the remaining spot on the tee (at the carb) and hook this to the regulator then...from the regulator discharge port to the fuel return line (on the truck).....

that will work to i guess, but i wouldnt wont 40 lbs of fuel pressure under my hood unless i needed it. the money to change it over will be about the same thing. :HMMM:

You can use a pump from a earlier TBI unit if you wish.....and want to drop the tank....they run 13 psi

what kind of fuel injection unit was/is it? I am looking for some to play with.....ecm too?

Throttle body fuel pressure is still way too high for a carburetor. You'll still have to regulate it down or gas will blow right by the needle and seat.
