Nice looking 305. What intake manifold are you using and what have you done with the buildup?
The engine was out of a 1983 Z28 and headed for the scrap yard when i got hold of it (was told it had a knocking noise and might be a connecting rod)
I never heard the engine run and took a chance on it and was happy I did
The engine mods:
The engine was stripped to bare block
Block was acid dipped clean
Block was magnafluxed for cracks
Old freeze plugs removed and new brass plugs installed
Block was bored & honed .60 over
New KB hypereutectic flat top pistons & Moly chrome rings
350 Crank Kit
The old rods was cleaned and inspected and new pistons was pressed on and then brought into weight of each other (Balanced)
New cam bearings installed
New cam & hydrolic lifters installed
Intake Duration 050 inch Lift 214
Exhaust Duration 050 inch Lift 224
Advertised Intake Duration 272
Advertised Exhaust Duration 282
New double roller timing set
New melling oil pump
Chevy collectors series black crinkle bowtie timing cover
Chevy collectors series black crinkle bowtie valve covers
New Elderbrock 7101 Intake
Holly 1850 600-CFM Carb (rebuilt)
I got a deal at $25 for the carb, $25 for the rebuild kit and $30 to the mechanic where I work to rebuild it :)
3 angle valve job done to the heads
New set rockers, springs and pushrods
New fuel pump
New water pump
New crome alternator brackets
New chrome double belt crank pully
New chrome double belt water pump pully
New 180 Degree thermostat
The headers are 1 5/8" ports to 3" collector to 2 1/2 reducer
Cherry Bomb mufflers
Sooner or later I will get a picture of the Nova
Next :)
Seems the picture is too big, gonna work on chopping it down to fit :)
Here we go again :)
Hmmmm 4 door
Now wait a minute.......Quote:

I see 2 Doors in the front and 2 Doors in the back ....... :)
Finding a 2 door is hard to do and expensive.......
I don't have a problem with 4 doors. Impalas are 4 doors
2 door or 4 door
To me it did not matter either due to the extremely low price I paid for it :)
And the Ford Mustang owners dont care about the 2 door or 4 door either, all they care about is the tail lights of a Nova that wiped the asphalt up with them :) LOL
Many years ago I owned a 69 Nova 2 Door and have been kicking myself in the asphalt for selling it
A nice hood scoop and a paint job is in the near future
if I had a 4 door like that I'd keep it looking stock except for some flowmasters underneath and wide ass tires in the back
The first set of headers I ordered and installed were the wrong ones and I had to ding the pipes quite a bit to get them to fit around the stearing box :(
They were also hanging quite a bit lower and would scrape when going over speed bumps or ruts in the road
Doing some good internet detective work and a few hours later produced a set of dynomax blackjack headers that was carried in stock at a local auto parts store and a price of $97.97
The new headers has been installed with a new set of cherry bombs
When I went to do both axles with new shoes i discovered that all the wheel cylinders need replaced :(
Both axels now have new cylinders, shoes and the drums all turned (Its nice to work for a repair shop and can get parts cheaper and use the equipment free of charge)
In a couple weeks the old holly 4 bbl is going to be replaced with a new shiney Elderbrock 600 Cfm
The old holly will get a new power valve and a rebuilt kit (Again) and be put in a box to the side and used as a spare part if ever needed
Last Saturday I got a little help shining up my engine....
Really, I did..;)
Jeff:toocool:
SouthernGent Your engine buildup if almost the same as mine. I'm running a little bigger cam with a edelbrock intake and 600 carb. My 37 only weighs 3000lbs. and the SB makes it scoot.
Another Update :)
The Edelbrock 600 is goona be a slight change to a 750 due to the price is only about 12 dollars more
The old holly is gonna recieve a one way power valve (Cost about 12 dollars) to prevent it from ever happening again....
Looks like someone got some nice looking help in polishing the engine :)
Her tail lights I would never get tired of looking at and she might have some great assets to shining the engine :) lol

Nice looking truck but then again who's looking at the truck :) lol
Uh - okay - so it's basically stock except for the intake that is a big mismatch under that dinky little old Holley. I blew a set of those Keith Blacks through my catalytic convertor, they are crap.
I've also seen the same thing happen to the Prowler v6 that has KBs in them too (stock). The engine is okay for a daily driver.
Don't get on it to hard, and I hope you got the ring gap all sorted out, because if those KBs get hot they'll lock into your cylinder and blow chunks.
Why'd you stay with stock valves, springs, etc...???
You should really go with an Edelbrock RPM AirGap if you want performance. That intake is too top end - and you valvetrain and cam aren't right for it - or it isn't right for your engine.

The ring gap was done by the owner of the shop where I work at (very trusted)
The 3 angle valve job was done by a mechanic where i work at and he told me not to put alot of money into the 305 heads and to stay stock with the valves, springs and rockers cause I got hold of an 1978 454 Big Block the same morning he started doing the valve job
The 454 is sitting on an engine stand in the cornor of the shop waiting for me to tear it down to bare block (and waiting for the funds :) )
Alot of the shop mechanics had friends with new parts sitting around and i got alot of them for a song and dance....
Some mechanics called in a few favors from their friends too....
I work in a shop where their is 20,000 sq foot and about 9 mechanics and has a towing operations with 6 wreckers and about 12 drivers
