It was runnning fine for about 15 miles then it started to tick when under a load. I put octane booster in the gas along with fresh gas. It also sounds like it may need the valves adjusted, i only say that because now after lets say 20 - 30 miles it sounds like there is a little tap under the valve cover at idle. The tapping when its under a load is different and almost sounds like my F250 diesel. Any suggestions? I haven't shecked teh timeing yet but I fear thats not the issue. It seems to get wors the more I drive it. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks! K9:confused: I almost forgot, When I start it up in the morning (second day of ownership mind you) it has black stuff on the driveway, no oil or water just black powder. It doesn't do it anymore the rest of the day. The carb is a edelbrock 4bbl
If the black stuff is at the tail pipe that's normal on a short trip driven car. That's condensation mixed with a rich exhaust coming out of the muf. if the car has been sitting then its a good chance the lifters might be trying to stick. id change oil and add a can of SEA FORM or any good lifter additive and see if the lifters clear up. that ticking under load could be an exhaust leak also. check that exhaust close. **) **)
