Yeah but, if you open the end of the hole up to form an open end slot ya may be able to just lossen the nut on the stud and slide the housing off & back on, may have to use a distributer wrench to get to the nut. Or 1980's model Renault Encore and the Chrys or AMC equivalent used a stat that was simply pushed into the upper hose and held in place with a hose clamp, I looked it up and it says 1.750 diameter available thru NAPA as # THM 284 for the 190 degree or #THM 184 as the 180 degree.... the bulb goes toward the engine...
