Manifold not seating right
Found a great deal on some s/r torquer heads for a late model engine so they are the center bolt type I bought them and got a holley street dominator manifold for that style of heads. When I put the manifold in place, it would not seat properly with gaskets on. By not seating properly I mean that it has about a 1/8" to 1/4" hole between the bottom of the manifold and the top of the block. So I took the gasket out and set the manifold on with out gasket and it still sits about 1/16" to 1/8" off the block. If any can give me any suggestion they would be gretly appreciated.

Yes both front and back and with the gasket on it about 1/8" to 1/4" gap with the gaskets missing it about 1/16" to 1//8" gap.Originally posted by DennyW
Are you talking about the front and back of the block to intake? Is that with those gaskets on or off?

But is that gap with or without the end gaskets? The ones that go on the front and back ends of the block.Duane S

I might be completely off the page, but, have the head/s been machined. A lot of times with this issue, the head was broached but the intakes were not planed to match.
Most machine shops I have run into, did not routinely match intakes with the differential broaching made on the head.
If the intake is off 1/8" front and rear, then, the intake must be lowered 1/16" on each side.
I prefer to have the heads machined rather than the manifold but if it is already a long block, then it is a matter of matching the manifold to the heads.
If my memory serves me, scarey thought, the intake bearing area/ bolt hole area, you have .025 minimum to machine. If you machine away 1 1/6" then you will still have 3/16". The other alternative, is to plane the intake plane the difference. That is my preferred way. I do not like to make thinner the mounting flange on the intake manifold unless I have to.

I agree about the heads being machined.....I hqd mine done and the manifold wouldn't fit..so I had an old timer machinisdt machine the manifold and it went right on
