7.4 Vortec heads on an early block?
I hear the new Vortec heads are great for torque.... My question is.... Can I bolt Vortec gen 6 heads on a mark IV (1978) 454 short block? What head gaskets should I use? Thanks!

I belive the only difference between the current 496 and older big blocks are the heads, roller cam, and no fuel pump boss. The 496 is a stroked 454/427, I believe the bores are the same. Yeah, if anything, the intake manifold may not fit, but I have heard nothing of the sort.
