A friend of mine is going to be building a 454 which he bought from the same guy i got my 396 from. So,last night i get a frantic phone call from him, because in the process lifting the left head off the block,he drops it sideways on the very top edge of the deck and chips it ! Now,from what i understand,it's about an eight inch in from the top edge near a coolant passage, but not INTO the hole,just....well,near it.So he asks me if i think it'll still be ok,and will the gaskets still seal, and my reply is.."hell if i know,it's a new one for me"!! all i can figure is from what he describes, there's plenty of meat in between the water passage and the "chip" or "gouge",so before he has a heart attack[would be a damn shame,i like the guy] hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.Will the heads still seal?
