    Air filter

I have been running my motor without a air filter, does a kn with a flow through top hurt Hp or help power. The reason I didn't have one on was because of hood clearance , but just put a different hood on it that has a 5 inch rise

Have dynoed many Cobras with 427 type engines that were restricted on air cleaners---found considstly that the K&N extreme 14 flow thru top plate added about 8 hp every time we replaced a flat top disc--------Most of these engines had Holley carb and a drop down bottom plate for more clearance up top --and the extreme helped especially with the choke towers being so close to lid restricting air into primaries

Gains are to be had with a cold air intake.

If the intake is placed in a high pressure area, the additional pressure will offset the restriction presented by an air cleaner, and the cooler air will make more power over the hot air in the engine compartment.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
