I got my 489 almost done but I need a single plane intake with square flange low profile so I can keep my stock hood anyone got any ideals I've look everywhere
I don't think you'll find a low single plane manifold
I don't know why anyone would build a nice, stout 489 and then choke it off with the wrong intake manifold. Take the hood off, sling it over the fence and install a tall intake like the motor wants.
.
Man I hate to mess my hood up.
What are you building? Put the stock hood in the rafters and get a 'glass one that will give some carb clearance....

Man I got a to much in this 68 chevelle 2 times what it's worth but $15000 grand just in motor still need a 950 quick fuel , and set headers , intake , and Torque convertor , now a hood and paint , I hope the trans will hold up its a 400 and hope the 12 bolt will hold up. It had a good 396 in it ,, I hope this stroker motor is a good one, should be a lot stronger
$15000 in motor minus carb, intake, exhaust??????????? You been drinking too much moonshine?
That is aircondition too
Have you looked at drop base air cleaners??? they work pretty good on the holley type carbs that don't have choke towers when used with the K&N extreme top plate.
Does your heads have raised exhaust ports???? If so you will need special headers
All it takes is money bud... One thing leads to another and you are finding this out real quick. :)

You'll make more power under curve with a dual-plane, high-rise manifold than you will with a single plane from 1500 to 6000.
Edelbrock 7161 or Weiand 8019 for oval ports, Edelbrock 7163 or Weiand 8018 for rectangular ports.
If the motor will be operated only above 6000, use a single plane intake for additional power.

Wow Denny great article, very interesting what a spacer did on the dual planes, might need to add one of those to the 460!
I had a 396 in it with a rpm air gap intake and the hood would barley close, I wanted a dual plane but my engine builder says it's all about moving air he said a dual plane will cost me 50 hp ?, and I don't know , it has afr heads square ports , it's going to be. Street car on pump gas
I see the light------------
toe? auto spell?
On the street--your rpm level will be below 4000 rpm 97.2% of the time------
Get a Edelbrock dual plane square port and a Holley 950 Advengur carb with K & N extreme aie cleaner with drop base-----------
You can look in Edelbrock cataloque and get deminsions Denny is referencing for the manifold that you have and compare to the others to tell if it'll fit without mods.
And you can tell them that an engine builder told you not to paint your hood!!!!!!
What about 2/1/8 dougs headers ,and a victor Jr. intake , an Howard's cam I think 248 duration an 649 lift are they a good choice don't no nothing about dougs headers they are long tube
Suppose to put my 489 on the Dyno tomarow, builder says should be around 690 to 700 hp we will see , would a 308 gear be about right for street driving , I think it has got 373 in it now
Street with no od----------- somewhere between 350-----411 depending on if its local or road trips-you got a 373 12 bolt-----run it and see, make adjustments from there-------I love the Ford 9 ers---so easy to swap pumpkins ( I usually use full floater Strange axle set up on mine so I can change pigs without even having to put the car on jack stands)
Had it Dyno today the big 489 turned out 640 hp 585 tq ,what do think
