Howdy folks great forum you have here, the Name is mike and I live in New Zealand. I have a 24 foot boat with a big block chev and a racing stern leg and am trying to id the block the casting number is 3963630 I cannot seem to find this number listed anywhere, any ideas?:confused:
I'm pretty good at finding this stuff, but this one has me stumped. Take a scratch awl and rake around on the numbers. Sometimes a number will not be fully formed and you can reveal it by scratching around. The other thing to do would be to post the Suffix number off the passenger side block deck immediately behind the water pump....

Hi there, I just joined this site to reply to your post.
I'm in England and have owned a block with the same number as yours for about 25 years.
I bought it along with an unused 69 zl1 block which I now have in my 34 coupe.
Only this week I pulled the steel block out to see what I could do with it.
I couldn't identify it by casting number so I googled the number and your post came up.
What I can confirm is that it's a 4 bolt mains truck block with the taller deck height..it has HI PERF TRUCK PASS cast at the front inside the timing cover.
Mine seems to have a stroker crank in it..it's numbered O-250157 which I haven't yet traced..it also has KIEKHAFER rods

Thanks for the replys guys, I havnt owned it for long but can confirm that it is a 4 bolt as I had the front cover off. I will see if I can get the other numbers as well as the head numbers. I believe it was built up in the early 90s for off shore racing and was rumered to be over 500hp. I can see that it has arp studs and roller rockers but that is all that I know. I am a motors guy as my business is in jet boats and as such have built and tuned numerus motors so it would be great if we could id the block as it seems a bit rare.
one thing that is a bit different is that the oil cooler bolts directly on to the side of the oil filter housing casting.

kiekharfer rods are older set of rods but are still a very good .on crank may tell you more on the front of the counter weight as for who made it like modex many did use the gm raw core to start with gm cranks could only take a 4.250 stroke that i know of , all bbc said Hi per /pass most 9.800 decks . some of the tall decks 10.200 did say truck /marine and just truck not to much of a big deal all truck block do have 4 bolt mainsQuote:

it's some really cool info. I personally love the notion behind the idea that every number has a secret meaning. I have been thinking about it for a while now. :O Like we all have our lucky numbers and we all have days when we feel safer and better and more sure of ourselves. I have been intrigued by that idea of those specific dates and so I started to read more about them. I usually use these articles as reference: https://www.sunsigns.org/angel-number-55-meaning/ because they have a lot of weight behind them. Hope you guys will find them useful as well
