Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

GM steel cranks have proven themselves at well over 1000 hp. Now a crank that has been machined down and depending on the abuse its sustained over time will be weaker than a new crank. I purchased a Ohio Crankshaft crank and rods for my 496 rated at around 1500 hp. My 8-71 Blown 496 will be around 1000 hp. I would suggest buying parts based on your hp output goals. I have a GM steel 454 4" stroke crank that is internally balanced and fresh turned .030/.030 It was in a stack injected 482 Rat 68 Chevelle drag car with 15 plus years of mid 9 sec passes. Started out std and turned down over time as needed. I would trust this crank in a mild street engine,...but not all out racing like it was used before.Last edited by Richy; 04-12-2014 at 10:58 PM.
Is that the right kind of fitting? It looks like it should be a tapered fitting. Isn't the bottom of the rack fitting tapered?
