I have a ZZ502 that I would like to step up to a little bigger cam. I have heard that you don't have to pull the oil pan on a big block like you do ona small block. Is this true. Will I ruin the oil pan gasket?
Any advice or tips??
Thanks

I never pulled the pan to replace a cam on either BBC or SBC. Why would you want to.
the zz502 has a one pice oil pan seal with a O ring timing cover .i would think at the least back the bolts out on the pan. the end rails have RTV on them just the corners so you have to make sure you do not rip the oil pan gasket. two long screw drivers in the lower timing cover bolt holes to push down will help slip the cover back on
