E85 racing

Anyone run it on here or have friends that do? Looking at maybe converting my Holley 750 dp to E85 cause its a lot cheaper than running premie around here in the upper parts of Michigan. Any pros and cons to it at all?

We've ran it for years, it does have some issues to deal with. First thing is don't leave it sitting in the tank for a long time...if it's an occasional driver use a good fuel stabilizer with it that's rated for ethanol. If you're going to be putting E85 in an older gas tank you might want to consider taking the tank out and do the flush and seal on it before the switch, ethanol will bust every little piece of debris loose in your tank and fuel system. I've ran it in my old shop truck for 8 or 9 years now, and we've used it drag racing and circle tracking for longer then that. Also, your fuel mileage will go down, but at least with prices around here not near enough to equal the cost of pump premium or race gas!!!! Other then that, enjoy being able to run high compression again, had an engine in my old Mustang Saturday night car that was 12.5:1 CR on E-85. I could put as much timing to it as it wanted and never worry about detonation!

You'll hear a lot of horror stories about running E85, but most are from people who either haven't tried it themselves or are speaking from a political perspective and not one based on how the stuff actually works!!!!!!
