I just got my new (replacement solid roller) cam from Erson and it is a 2 piece.
Not a big deal, I just not have ever seen or heard of them. I was told I needed to change the distributor gear to a steel gear.

That's a new one on me too! But then I don't get to play inside to many motors like others. I guess it makes sense as to fab 1 cam and swap out drive gear... We'll see what others think..
Selecting the right distributor gear based on the cam gear is critical, here is a video from Comp Cams explaining. Hope this helps.

I think with that camshaft I would be giving Erson a call. That distributor gear doesn't look like the "usual" steel gears I've seen on roller camshafts
yep use them all the time iron back part can use any dist gear you want . that core is not made by ERSON and is a callies core ERSON put there grind on them have about 5 setting on the shelf same core NO big deal
Pat is there any benefit to using a steel distributor gear over an iron one? I was told not to use my bronze gear, it would get eaten up pretty fast.
