HIPPO lifters necessary? rev kit ?'s

title says all. the MANY lifters that are out there and I can't narrow it down. HIPPO, non-HIPPO? does it really matter? my engine is an {in progress}496bbc. also, can anyone tell me the difference between the lifters with the roller partially covered, vs. the ones with the roller completely exposed? last thing... i would like to use a rev kit for "just in case" purposes as this is my 1st build, w/ hydraulic rollers? not going to be a track car. probably will never see 6000, so my question is, will a rev kit help or not? if so, which rev kit brand is most reputable? as well which brand of hyd. roller lifters?
i am completely new to this engine building scene so i am absorbing a lot of info... thanx in advance!

there is no need for a rev kit for a hyd roller for lower RPM . hippo roller lifters?never used or seen any in hyd roller but used many with solid cams.the pro max may have some added pin oiling has thats a hyd roller lifter that can take 200 lbs and 500open but i do not know how your going to get lifter valving for a hyd roller with added holes drill in the lifter body there is not the same load on most hyd cams for spring pressure like a solid were you need the hippo lifter . if you thinking about a hyd cam and you going past 5500 all the time then you may what to re think a hyd or buy a steel core hyd cam .buy short valving hyd lifters and you can buy a rev kit.i have built many bbc hyd rollers with out rev kits but i tell customers to stay under 6000.if its going past this then its a solid roller cam .with hippo s
