My Dad's got a new to him motor home ('85 w/24k on the odometer) with a 454 BBC in it with an HEI dizzy. The vacuum advance can has the hose nipple rusted off. He's been told that the vacuum advance can has to be matched to the distributor. WTF, anyone ever heard of the distributor and vacuum advance can having to be a matched pair. Granted it's in a Winnabego but, I have never heard of that. I'm telling him to go get an adjustable vacuum advance unit and stab it in there, fine tune it a bit, and should be good to go. Can't imagine for the life of me what would be different? The HEI part number stamped is 11033765c1 and the vacuum advance is 68210. From what I gather the dizzy is '85 454, March 1st, C and K series. Just a truck motor. ????????
