:CRY: My name is alex and I am a high school student in salt lake city wanting to build up a 427 chev tall deck that I recived for pennies on the dollar. My goal is to keep the block. But I can't seem to find an intake manifold for a tall with out it being for race. I want this motor to be for street. so my question is do any of you know of a intake for a tall deck and also what is you opinion on race intakes for street and the use of spacers.
I cant be shure cause I know more about small blocks but, I do belive that the tall decks are truck motors, and you would have to have it shaved and remachined to have a street engine. I'm not shure but you may be able to use spacers. Someone who knows more about the BB's will probably correct me with what's wrong and help you. At least you got a start though and sorry I could not help you out more.
They do make spacers for them, i haven't checked on price yet, i saw them today in my moroso catalog.
Alex1159; Check out this site.You might want to call them, they can hook you up with some cool set ups for a 427 chevy.
The first site is for the Intake adapters or spacer plates so you can run any intake you want too with that tall deck 427.

I dont think edelbrock offers a tall deck intake, the only one i've heard of is weiand team g.
KC2006; Did you look at what they did have? And they know who has what and could steer him in the right direction. If not here is some other sites. what am i missing here? They don't carry an intake that fits a tall deck. SO you can only get a team g which is a single plane or just buy adapters and use any big block intake. A team g can go on the street but its not going to be that great since it should be used in aplications of 3200 and up i think. I'd say your best bet is to get an edelbrock intake dual plane which has better street manners and get adapters.

Vara, i'm not trying to start something with you, do you realize he is talking about a tall deck intake? There is a difference. I'm saying that all those that you just posted (good job of showing him options) won't work unless he uses spacers. Thats all i was trying to say.
KC2006; No at first I thought he wanted a high rise intake from the way he worded it. but then I realized what you guys were saying. I'm not a chevy man, I was just trying to help him find some good intakes. I know a high rise is going to be above the general street rpm range,He's going to need the low to mid range for the street. I've run into that problem with a couple of my motors in the past. {High decks/spacer plates} First giong from a 351 cleveland to a 351/400modified ford, the modifieds are of cleveland design and every thing will interchange between the modifieds and the clevelands except 2 things. The clevelands are a small block trany bolt pattern. The modifieds are big block trany bolt pattern and have taller decks there for the cleveland and the modifieds intakes will not interchange. I also have the problem on my 472/500 caddy, can't find a good after market intake that will fit so you have to buy spacer plates to fit a good 460 ford intake on it and the same thing with the valve covers, you have to buy spacer plates for them also so you can run some nice aluminum ford valve covers. So I've had the same problems before.

PS You told him about the spacer plates in your first post which was before I talked to him.So he should be able to figure out to use those spacer plates with the intakes I was showing him,but incase he is not able to,I put the site for the spacer plates at the top of the site list on both of the posts with a site list on them.
