BBC aluminum head question?

I had a mechanic install a set of AFR aluminum torque monster heads on my BBC. I questioned him as to how long after running them should I wait to have him re-torque the heads. His answer sort of shocked me. So I will run this past the BBC experts here. He claimed that since they were aluminum and not cast iron they DID NOT need to be retorqued. He stated when he put aluminum heads on his 502 BBC he did not re-torque them. I just want make sure he is giving me the RIGHT answer. What is the true answer to this? By the way, he is not a shade tree backyard mechanic and has been a mechanic for 25 years. Thanks in advance. :HMMM:

i never re torqued any head bolts/studs on any bbc heads i ever did. iron or alum up to 14.8 CR and more on boost and some on Nos i used felpros race all of them from the#1037.1027.1017-1 .1017-2 .1057.1093.and the rols grafoil. mr gasket .cometics .and the detroit as well as the stock felpros. and others . now i will say i TQ the heads down not the same way as a stock job like a hi HP build iron or on alum heads if not studs i use a washer under the bolt with some moly past on both side of the washer .but the way i do them may only work for me .every head i have put on.i never lost a gasket from the way i have done them.but if you can not sleep at night then re tq them

Well, the ZZ502 crate installation manual says to retorque after the first 30 mile break-in. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the ones you can get to without dropping the exhaust. Although the bottom row under the exhaust ports are the shortest bolts and would be more proned to needing checked ..............
