Well I got my 3512 block cleaned up and it has some pretty good rust pits where the pistons sat. How much can a std 3512 BBC be bored? 60 or more? If it does not clean up should it be junked or can it be sleeved? or is that to expensive? If it can't be salvaged I'll prob sell the crank, it will clean up nice to 10, 10. Maybe I can sell it, its a stock 1970 GM forged 454 crank.
well if you go past .060+ bore you can never go back how many holes need to be sleeved one or two you may want to do that if you can and have it at 030 but if bad 060 may not help clean it up . i had to sleeve them were rust has devour the bore were 100 would of not cleaned it up i get 100 a hole that for the sleeve and to bore and drive the sleeve in and finsh bore the sleeved hole your machine shop should have some ideal what it will take they may have to run the boring bar to see were they may clean up at .if you have them sleeve go to some one that knows what they are doing i seen some very bad jobs if done right you will have a hard time finding the repair i step them in at the bottom this is the best way to do them .i have done many and is a good sound fix.i have them in alot of race engines
Might have to sleeve them all. I would have to find a better shop to do it, the one here "thinks they make sleeves" but is not sure.......
i buy the sleeves for a gm block i use the melling sleeves for the id i want and the finale bore size they go by the block make a engine size for a stocking sleeve .i bore and face them off using a Rottler F2B borring bar what will bore thru that block like a hot knife thru butter putting sleeves in all bores will be pricey but can be done . doing all the bores i would finsh by decking the block
