anybody know the best deal on a balanced forged 505 stroker kit?
Eric or Pat should be along in a while to answer this.....
thanks as this is first bb build and local shops just don't have the expertise you guys have.
First I will have to guess this is for a 10.20/Tall deck block.Quote:

Competion Products use to have kits for both the 505 and the 535.
I think it was a short block deal with a new OEM block, balanced,forged 4340 crank,forged h-beam rods,and Ross pistons,rings and bearings.
If I remember you just check your clearance's and assemble.
They use to sell for about 2,800$ plus shipping.
I built one for a car in a tubbed camaro,AFR 305 heads,mech. roller cam.
It made an $hit load of low end torque and was done by 6,500 rpms.
I.M.O.,a great combo. for low end and mid range torque.4.350 bore X 4.5 inch stroke.
the best deal for what hyper pistons I beam rods or H beam rods ? i do not think anyone make a piston in a 4.375 crank in hyper or are you thinking of boring one out to 4.350 with a 4.250 the better way to go is a 4.310 bore by 4.375=510 or a short fill with rock and a 4.350 bore and a 4.375 crank 520 cid every thing is a phone call a way or a tall deck 427 block with a 4.350 bore and a 4.500 crank 535 i have done the 4.310 by 4.500=525 also and used a set of edelbrock performer heads with a hyd roller cam for max TQ was all in under 6000 rpmQuote:

if you go this way i have a block that will clean up at .080 for sure had some rust in one hole or one sleeve at 060 so 100 it would for sure a 1/2 fill of block rock will help tie up the block and the bores i would use SRP pistons a scat H beam rods and scat/ cat 4340 steel crank the guys that runned my 573 runned it at 8000 in the mud but it had very good parts .i have many lower buck builds out there with the scat H beams and crank s pull truck air boat many street and more drag cars from 470 to 632
