    Help! Should I buy this 454 block?

     



    I found a bare 454 bb and it is already bored .30 over. Has about 20,000mi. on the block. I am planning on boring out .10. Not sure of the year. He wants $200 for it. What do you guys think?

    hey go to google and type in 454 engine horsepower.there's a good artical there on 454's. it's world castings the basic's of horsepower! talk's about buying 454's and what to look fore.hope this helps you kurt

    Chevelle Man I am betting you mean it is already .030 over not .30 over. Why do you want to take it another .010? Are the cylinder walls scored up or tapered? With only 20k miles you should be able to clean them up with a hone. I agree with Richard, have it magnafluxed. The money you spend doing that would save you a lot if it has any cracks.
