so would it be better to go with a 4.500 stroke and 6.535 rod or am i going to have trouble fitting that in my 427T block, this will be the second engine i've rebuilt, the first was an international 345ci(stock rebuild), i want a 500+ci engine but if it's easier to build a 496 and the cost is less, i'll settle for that, what do you think?

the motor is going in and 85 chevy truck with 4in suspension lift and 3in body lift i don't think i'll have problems with the hedders
well i built one with a 4 1/2 stroke like i said srp pistons are shelf pistons i have built many 572-632 tall decks. dart and world . bow tie. donvan tall decks .going with a 4.600 bore is where it at . the big stroke cranks fit better in all of them but the bow ties mark 4. i can not tell you if you can put a 4 1/2 stroke crank in your block ? how good are you with a die grinder? go to much and you will have junk. i happen to have some talldeck world blocks then you would have a 572 -598 with a 4.500 crankQuote:

well that is not a shelf pistons. a 1.645 is.it will not work with out working off the top deck off the pistons on a mill. so you are running customs .you could use the 6.535 rods that is up to you
