Well I Have a 21 Sanger Superjet Boat, with a chevy 454, prettymuch stock still has quadrajet carb, basset water injected headers, wanting to build it up but not sure where to start or what to do any suggestions????? Help Im Lost:rolleyes:

Not sure how many boat guys are in here. If you were building a street engine, I would have a lot of suggestions, but a boat is quite a different thing...I think I'll leave this one to someone else who might know better! Good luck at any rate. John
Does the Sanger have a Berkley jet in it ? A good improvement would be a aluminum manifold ,a performer would be best to keep the low end torque you need .A holley 750 3310 would also work great , Holley's alway's seem to have the low end grunt as apposed to the Rochester with huge Primaries .I ran a 600 on my 327 , with a performer it was awesome !!!Does the 454 have a thermostat kit in it. It really helped mine out .
yes it has a berkley jet, from what i have been told it is the biggest jet berkley makes so it will handle the power, I am switching over to hei ignition, 1 1 MSD-8207 STREET BLASTER SS COI 41.88 1 AV

when done i wanna do a edelbrock performer intake (endurashine) of course, and was thinking an edelbrock 1411?? i believe it is 750cfm carb elec. choke the only thing is not sure if the edelbrock carb has vac. secondaries or mech, I would assume mech secondaries are better any ad vice pros vs cons??? Thanks for the help, not sure if it has thermostat kit, i believe it does, it has 4 cooler lines coming into housing
is there anything else i am missin for the ignition PNX-1181 to replace the points
do you want to do a entire rebuild or tune yours up

ok I really appriciate all the help, as of now it idles at about 1200 rpm also it does make it easier on a jet no gears like stated previously, so not a problem I am going to purchase the Edelbrock performer intake Manifold with an Edelbrock 1411 750cfm Electric choke, only question is what to do with the cam???? WHat benefit will i see with going with a bigger cam and the combo mentioned before, also how does that ignition sound for you ignition guru;s out there will it work???? you need to know how much rpms you want to run i would run the air -gap or a team G and a cam that builds mild ragne power some thing with a110 lsa or less
If you change your cam ,remember that the impeller on the pump is matched to the cam that came with the boat . usually you change them both together . Check out Hot boat on line .I ran a performer on my jet for the low end torque to get out of the hole, It was only a smallblock though.Max r.p.m. was only 4600.

a guy i know in seattle ut put a blower on his 502 not the same as what your doing but i can ask him seeing as he fully rebuilt the motor then added the blower later so ill ask hima bout his situation. its about a 20 something footer with jet <i think!> been a few months but ill ask him!......

Do you know which impellor is in the pump right now? If it is an "A" cut I would leave it in. An "A/B" cut might work OK out of the hole in your light Sanger hull but a "B" cut will cavitate coming out of the hole. A stuffer plate can help the hole shot. Take your pump to somebody that knows Berkeley pumps very well. I just removed a COPO aluminum hirise from my 454 in my 77 Hallett. I will be trying an Edelbrock Performer RPM air gap this weekend at the River, Laughlin. I will let you know how it performs. Check out the forums below.
