Tuned Port injection or Hilborn mechanical injection?

I am trying to decide which way to go. I have the chance to get a mechanical Hilborn injection system for my LS-6 454 and I also have a chance to get a complete tuned port injection set up. I am aware the Hilborn injection will have a rougher idle, but will put up mid and upper range power. I have never run or been around tuned port injection so I do not know its benefits and if it would be better than the Hilborn nostalgia set up. I would love to hear your input/thoughts as to which way to go & why. Thanks for the help. :confused: :3dSMILE:

If you're street driving TPI. If you're in lust with the Hilborn look then send it off to someone like BDS and have it converted to electronic and it will perform like the TPI........best of both worlds. Either way, be prepared to push a pile of Franklins across the table.

If it were me, I would do the Hilborn and have it converted to Electronic Injection like Bob mentioned.

For reliability sake and best bang for the buck probably TPI.

Personally, I don't like all the electronic crapola clutter mess with EFI. I am saving possibly for a nice set of Webers from Inglese. (ching $-ching $)

Here ya go Jon, this is a BDS conversion on a hemi with some creative care given to wireloom routing. Have seen Weber-esque systems as well, mostly run the wiring in the valley rather than hangin' out in the breeze.

What Bob said, you get the best of both worlds. Mechanical injection Hillborn's would be a major hassle on the street..... Hi idle speed, bugger to start, etc. The BDS system works super!!!!!

I ran Hilborn on the strip. The problem with Hilborn mechanical injection is the lack of throttling ability. It's pretty much made to run at idle and wide open. You'd get tired of it on the street really, really quickly.
