Pat, nice machinery!! And thanks for the welcome back!!!:3dSMILE: :3dSMILE: John
the fel-pro #f1027 is 4.370 bore 0.39 9.7cc the rol gasket is4.345 bore and .039 9.5cc he will have to chop the hell out of the heads decking it to O is the way to go
i am sorry i had my had up my A$$ today you can get to 9.338 o deck and they will have to be 100 cc heads and buy the time you get them heads back to 100 cc you will not have any piston to valve .i had one 454 like this and i could not get much cam in it the best thing to do is get some small pistons dome like #h426cp speed pros they are 8.5at 119 cc or #h58icp119cc10.2 or you can use the srp piston #212135 9.9 at 118cc or kb201 will be 8.732 at.032 deck or 9.241 at o deck . heads at113cc and in the hole .032 would be 8.994 with the KB kb201 . with your pistons and cutting your head to109cc if we use johnny O form 0.040 would have to come off to get to8.896 and i do not know what cam you will run but some thing on a wide lsa may help the piston to valve room. and not to wild on the dura. i think all of this is right ? if not i tried . on a lot of stuff i do is big pistons or customs made for the cc of the head or rework the head chamber so the pistons will not hit and go for it . i had 548 like this it had 14.8 cr and drove it on the street WOW that thing pulled. oh one thing i will add to is that when to cut that0.040 you will have all of the intake valves up out of the deck of the head so you will have no valve drop and you will have to watch you do not cut into the 45 on the intake valves seat
I'll probably end up with the speed pro combo that yields 10.2 with 119cc. The cam is a crane high intensity 280 grind 224/234 525/550 114lsa
Plenty of vacuum. the motor ran well..... and it had 781 119cc heads. hard to believe when my computations came up with 8.2 to1 compression. It had plenty of low end. The eng has been on a stand since 1992 but is extremely clean. I don't want to take any metal away other than a hone for the new pistons. There is only about 10,000 miles on this eng. This is an eng that a friend of mine is letting me use indefinitely. He's pretty much given me the authority to do what I need to do to raise the compression but I don't want to deck or bore the already .030 cylinders ie. "hack it up" Thanks again for the advise.
