		Should i be worried
This might be a stupid question - but its keeping me up at night.
I just had an 454 built and it was dropped off yesterday. When we tried to lift the engine out of the back of the truck we saw that the distributer was going to get hit by the chains... so we took the distributer out. As it came out the bottom o ring on the distributer snapped and a piece of it is missing.

I think it might have fallen back into the hole that the distributer comes out of.

Does this mean i have to take the whole thing apart to look for this little piece of o ring - its a really small piece.

Or is it not a big deal?

 thanks guys

well if you cant find it at all... it really shouldn't cause a problem, it will probably get stuck in the oil pickup for the life of the engine.... but dont take my word for it.... of seen some crazy things make engines blow

		I wouldn't worry a bit... it's not metal

I wouldn't worry about it. Thats why oil pickups have a filter screen on them.

I think he's talking about the plastic sleeve for the oil pump drive.

yeah it must just be a crappy piece because the distributer was just out of the box - and i dont think it was the sleeve, it was just a small ring that was about halfway up the distributer shaft

 thanks for the info
