Ok i have no way of making a "real" pvc system on my BBC. I am sick of all the pressure blowing oil out of my breather.
So i can either have my intake tapped so i can actually run a return line back to the motor?
Or i can run 2 breathers in each valve cover?
Or can i splice into my brake booster vac line?.....
I am leaning towards the 4 breathers idea, it is easy.
let me know you guys....please.
Breathers will work if you don't mind the smell.
Personally I would drill and tap the intake at the back, under the rear of the carb, and breather vent the other valve cover. Most street carbs have a PCV inlet at the back .........

So, why not tap the intake for a vacuum source,and make a real pcv system? Just remember you have tohave a baffle in the valve cover or it will suck up and burn lots of oil.

I am getting my power brakes off the baseplate of the carb....no other options.
And i was trying to avoid tapping the intake for lazy reasons.....lol...jk
But i would like to avoid tapping this intake.
You can tap a hole in an aluminum riser block and get a vacuum port that way. Done it lots of times.
do you have baffles in the valve covers . and what kind off brearthers do you have . if you run a pcv you may hurt the engine . suck oil on top of the pistons. is not to good. i have run them with the mopar breathers or KN with shields. some of the bad type breather have foam in them and when they get oil in them they do not work
No baffles in the covers....they are the cheap-o Moroso (i had them laying around already)
I have one breather as of right now and it is one of those S&B....or S&P....anyway a K&N knock off, I do have 4 brand new k&N with out the sheilds. Should i get new valve covers like the circle track boys that have 2 stand up breathers in each cover?
I dont know if it is racing folklore but i have always been told that without the proper venting i can start pupshing out seals/gaskets.
My only problem is the breather i have now gets oil soaked and pukes out one drip at a time down to the headers and i get a lovely puff of stink, plus i am worried about that much oil being pushed around.
no baffles in the moroso valve cover are hurting you .on oil control big block have to have some type of baffles or tall type breathers off the valve covers. and yes it need to use breathers one on each side or you will blow the dip stick out or blow the seals or oil pan gasket out .i like the mopar type they work good and cheap but not to show look at my car and you will see them on it they work ok. on open breather you will see some oil. i would like to see it go out the get ran back thru the engine. just do not tell green peace:whacked:
If you guys dont mind me butting in but i wanted to know what is the reason for puting pvc valves on a motor.
what would be the best having
2breathers
1breather and 1 pvc valve
or 2 pvc vavles

Eliminating the PCV system from an engine is a bad idea. It is a myth that PCV's hurt performance. In fact, your engine's crankcase requires ventilation in order to remove toxic fumes that pollute your oil and cause undue pressure which forces oil out of any place that it can go. Generally speaking, the flow of air comes from the intake manifold through the breather on one side of the engine, down through the crankcase, up the other side, and out the PVC, back into the intake. I consider it very important to have the PCV on one side of the engine and the breather on the other. This helps ensure that the entire engine benefits from the air flow. Otherwise, you will create a mini flow on just one side that only involves the valve cover area. Oh, and it's a PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) not PVC (common plumbing pipe - polypropolene something or other)

if this is a stock big block run the pcv but if you have no baffles in the valve covers an a races engine . then you can whipe you butt with pcv. it will not work and on baffles in the covers you will suck oil out of the valve covers and it will get in the engine and you will burn oil this is no good
you need a baffle, i's no problem to put baffles in your covers 4speedTerror.
you can go to mr gasket and buy a pcv valve baffle grommet to go in the valve cover. just a matter of drilling a hole . used it a lot of times.

Do they make a pcv valve that does not need a baffle? I have some nice Aluminum Cal Custom valve covers I want to use, but they have no baffles, just oil drippers...?

I have two moroso breathers, but I thought I would add a pcv valve to one cover. Each cover has two holes in them, one for a breather and one for the oil fill, so no modifications are needed... I wan't to keep my freshly painted engine nice and clean.
duh, I missed the post just above my last one. I guess I need a baffle grommet...
