oil filter adapter on a 454 1971 model
i replaced an oil filter adapter on my 454 with one from a small block chevy. seemed to fit alright then when i started the engine it blew the rubber seal from oil filter and oil leak occured. did i install the adapter wrong? or does it take a different adapter? i used a fram ph 30 tighten it hand tight and then anothor turn but did not put a filter wrench on itmichael n mississippi

well i found the problem. the adapter was cracked it could not be seen ,but when the filter was tightend it pulled it open enough to let the pressure push the seal out and then leak. hope this helps someone else .michael n mississippi
