i have a 454 with a piston that is dead.the top half is totaly scared up and near the edge of the there is a hole/dent.the clinder doesnt look scar ed.but its only that cylinder.all the other cylinders have 150 psi comp.i want to know how could that have happened i had it for bount a month never drove it on the freeway.how does a piston get blown?
what kind of pistons should i get to replace it?
how can i tell if i need to get it bored out or just honed?
how can i tell if the rods and crank are still good?
this is going to be my 1st rebuild so i need to know if there is anything i need to check and save money for.
