IVE GOT A 454 MOTOR WITH A FULL SOLID ROLLER SETUP BUT MY CAM HAS GONE TO WAIST. BECAUSE THE SPRINGS THE HEADS HAD WERE COIL BINDING. IM THINKING OF GOING TO HYDROLIC BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER. AND I ALSO HEARD THAT YOU HAVE TO BE ADJUSTING THE ROCKERS ALL THE TIME. I DONT WANT TO BE DOING THAT. PLEASE HELP:confused:
if you dont want a mechanical roller cam go to a hydraulic roller cam both work very good i have built many both ways hydraulic roller is better for street use and mild racing lower rpm say up to 6500. hydraulic will be more money the lifters are $340 un less you have a mark 6 big block that has the stock roller type cam .the soild cam is good for hi rpms up8000 + the lifters are lighter so this helps at hi rpm and there is no valving in the lifter to worry about at hi rpm but if you do not need a hi rpm race engine then the hydraulic roller is the way to go. i have built a lot of big block and i do not run flat cams on big blocks. so from me it is hyd roller or soild roller .this is the way to go. if you like the mechanical sound and check your lash may be a couple a times a year soild cam is the way to go. soild cams dose not need to be lash every week unless you are bending push rods studs or wiping the cam and lifters i have tested soild roller cam on the street for years some big lift one like 740 and you do have to change out the roller lifter the pin get hammer out .YOU WANT TO WATCH THIS if the pin fails bad things happen. but if you run a much smaller lift soild you will be ok .for the street hyd roller and a all out killer a soild roller cam:whacked:

some times the cam will be bigger from the fact that there is no lash on the hyd roller .there is running lash on soild cam so lift and dur is bigger on hyd roller from this fact .you could see more power you will have to do some work getting the cam lift ls dur rigth :whacked:
Solid roller lifters are not a good idea on a street engine. The clearance will eventually cause pin failure. Roller rockers and solids are prone to the same problem.
