computer dyno needed

My engine was just built and I have not yet installed and fired it up. It is a 402 BB bored an addition 50 thousands. edelbrock rpm performer 454 oval port heads, rpm performer intake, holley 750 double pumper, crane cam crn134551 duration @ .050 - 236 int and 246 exh, gross lift .553 int and .571 exh. scat rods, and domed pistons running 10.5:1 compression, forged and balanced crankshaft. msd 6a ignition box, msd street pro-billet distributior and 8mm helicore wires. moroso oil pan holley fuel pump 110 gph and that about does it. If im missing any neccesary info, post back. Engine guy said underrated 400 hp as when he ran the 396cu 375hp on the computer he got 350hp.

what are you looking for ??i think it would make 400 hp but the cam is small for much more the cr and heads and cam will make the hp not the scat rods or the steel crank have built many 450 to500hp with stock rods and cast cranks:whacked:

I know the rods and crank dont make Hp, I just thought id add the extra info. I was asking for someone with a desktop dyno not smartass remarks.

do you think i am a smart ass? you are the one that put it down you think a desk top is goning to tell you what you have yes i am a smart ass. this .ass has built big block for over 20 years you put all this stuff down but did not say what size headers and ex this is more uesful :LOL:

I posted because I wanted feedback, not Smartass comments. I know a desktop dyno gives rough estimates, that is why I said the engine is not in the car, otherwise Id cruise over to a chassis dyno and I wouldent need to post. It is people like you who turn younger enthusiasts trying to learn about engines off. Now if would would please keep your comments to yourself, I would like to get some real feedback, not some guy telling me my oil pan dont build horsepower.

DD says 475 HP at 6000, and 454 TQ at 4500 and 5000 . Thats with headers and mufflers, and the rest of the info you posted.

Thanks for the rough estimate JohnnyO, does comp cams com11-604-5, duration @ .50 256 int and 266 ex, lift .580 in and .605 ex 108 deg work better?

Way worse, too much cam for your combo....431 at 6500 (see, the rpm range is going up) and 395 Tq at 5000. Your first choice will give you a much better performer. I had a similar cam to your second choice in a very similar engine, and it was a complete dog! Dont go there, you'll be sorry. Stay with a smaller duration, that's where your torque is built. You wont feel HP, it's torque that you feel, and that accelerates your car. If you want a nasty idle, get the lobe center at 108 instead of 112 or 110. But keep the duration reasonable. I ran a Comp Cams 262 in a 454, it was a solid lifter cam...but the torque was tremendous! Duration on that one was 230/236 I think at .050. So you dont need a lot.

if it s a stock trw type pistons i do not think 600 lift is going to fit any ways on a 108 . 570 on a 110 is big for piston to valve for a stock trw and the heads has a 2.250 intake valve is the pistons cut for this valve ?? and if it is the bore un shrouded??

ya the last cam was way off..... I think ive decided on extreme 274H- duration @ .050 230 int 236 exh lift- int .552 exh .555 110 degrees. And im gonna throw some full roller rockers in there. thanks for the help guys, how does that last cam sound?

274H is a good cam, I ran that one in one of my 454's.....strong torque, quick to accelerate and it sounds pretty nasty too. Are you talking about the XE cams? (extreme energy)?? If so, they are a little noisy, almost sounds like a solid lifter cam. I thought for awhile that I had a lifter or two going bad, but it was just the normal sound.

sweet, next dilema, is my engine gonna be starved of fuel? holley 750 and holley 110 gph mechanical pump with 3/8 lines all the way back to the sender...gonna be enough or not....

I really doubt that you'll be starving for fuel...that's a pretty good volume pump, and 3/8" line is usually enough. Do you have a pressure gauge? If you do, watch the pressure at higher RPMS to see that it holds steady. The only way you'll run out of fuel with that combo is maybe going thru the traps at the strip, and even then, I doubt it.
