    cold fuel

     



    some guys where talking at work the other day and said that a old trick for hp is filling a coffee can with ice and then running your fuel line around it. this true?

    Yep, we used to do this back in the day (Cool-Can), but I don't think anybody does it anymore. NHRA has a rule prohibiting artificial cooling of the fuel, so that pretty much eliminated the practice. You used to be able to buy the cans commercially from companies like Moroso, maybe still can?

    nhra is kinda sucky now. i mean they need to bring back class racing i.e: aa/gs a/gs b/gs and etc and get rid of this bracket crap its stupid. and it eliminates alot of guys who want to race. but dont have 50 g's to do it. just my 2 cents

    im all now. i thought that was the idea of bracket racing, no matter what kind of car you had, you put a time on it and go run as close to that time as you could. 100.00 car or a 100.000.00 car. if i got closer to my time with my 100.00 car i win.
    i dont see where money has anything to do with bracket racing. JMO

    IHRA runs a "non electronic" bracket, no delay boxes allowed. Doesn't NHRA have the same thing going yet??? The electronics did put a lot of extra cost into bracket racing.

    i guess that just shows how long its been sense i bracket raced. electronics didnt have that much to do with it. i guess the last few yrs. its gotten worse. you might be on to something there gassersrule_196.

    Mike, it has gotten so out of control that he who has the most costly and sophisticated electronics wins the race, assuming of course that he has the skills to drill the tree every time. Some of these cars are beginning to look like the cockpit of a commercial jet.

    As an old-timer who grew up with the premise that whoever was able to bolt together the fastest car would win, it breaks my heart to see a $50,000 Super Gas or Comp Eliminator car blast out of the gate only to throttle down past the 60' mark and then re-throttle down-track at some electronically pre-determined point.

    thats bad, i cant remember the last time i run at richmond drag way. i sold my last drag car in 1990 and built a mod. round track car so its hard to belive, but i guess the last time i drove a drag car was 15 yrs ago. thats bad like everything else i do i cant do but one thing at a time then over do it and get tired of it. The electronics want a problem then, because this guy that won every week had a 10 sec. vet. that he could dial in around 11.5 and run on it all day long. come to think of it he was so good he might have had the electronics. looks like the electronics class and the non- electronics class would be the answer.

    Cooler gas gets more fuel in for a given jet size, which ain't always a good thing. The HP gain, if any, would be un-noticeable in most cases. It's one of those "tried everything else, this might help" kind of things.
